BSc. Fashion Buying and Merchandising with Industrial Experience

For my Buying Strategy project, I focused on clothing tailored to children with disabilities.  In response to minimal options available within the UK Highstreet and Value market, I designed and merchandised a multi-phase Childrenswear range for Matalan, focused primarily around the needs of a disabled child.  Primary research uncovered the importance of adaptive ranges being equal to their non-adaptive counterparts in relation to price, quality, fashionability, and range scope.  As such, I developed the new range to sit seamlessly alongside existing ranges, by following the same trend direction and price architecture that Matalan’s customers expect while incorporating key trend influences for the S/S21 season.  Adaptions are centred around both physical and sensory needs, catering for many requirements including tube access and wheelchair suitability.  My future career interests lie within Buying and Merchandising or Garment Technology - all areas which have featured within my studies and placement experience.
